Joshua Adair, LCSW, CCTP

EMDR Certified, EMDR Consultant-in-Training

Joshua Adair is a warm and empathetic Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Joshua is passionate about partnering with individuals to support their brains natural ability to move towards healing through EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Ego State Therapy.

As someone who has sifted through the ashes of his own life in the midst of healers, Joshua knows how profoundly sacred the therapeutic relationship is. Beginning trauma treatment can be greatly challenging and it’s brave of you to begin the journey of searching. Joshua offers a compassionate presence that can hold the depth of your pain and understand the resilience it takes to heal. Joshua is passionate about providing a space in which you feel heard, seen, and supported as you navigate your unique path to recovery. Together, with Joshua you will use EMDR, parts work, yoga, and somatic practices to unlock profound, lasting change, moving from merely surviving to truly thriving.

Joshua deeply values personal growth, recognizing lived experience as his most profound teacher. Joshua believes that a therapist's effectiveness is rooted in their commitment to their own inner work and this means that, ethically, he will not invite clients to do things that he has not done or walked through himself. It has been through his own experiences of “the other side of the couch” that have given him the deep passion and understanding of the sacredness of this work. It was that passion that led Joshua to obtaining a Masters degree in Social Work from Texas A&M Commerce and continuing to pursue post-graduate education and training in various trauma-treatment modalities.

Joshua believes in the power of play, honesty, and authenticity. His early experiences in the field of social work included working in a children’s shelter and transitional living program, receiving training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention. Joshua has experience and a passion for working with those who might identify with being the underdogs or the outcasts. Joshua spent time as the Clinical Manager at a local Partial Hospitalization Program that focused on healing from complex PTSD and dissociation.

Joshua’s expertise includes EMDR therapy, particularly in complex PTSD (CPTSD) and dissociative experiences. In his practice, Joshua embraces a holistic approach, considering each individual within their unique environment and social context. Joshua integrates elements of yoga, somatic practices, and breath work to support clients as needed or requested, enriching the therapeutic experience with mindfulness and body awareness.

When not in the therapy room, Joshua enjoys spending time with his son, and his wife, Estella, and finding every opportunity possible to engage in play.
